MY COOKIES FAILED ME AND I’M STILL LAUGHING ABOUT IT.

Have you ever tried baking cookies with so much excitement, only for them to come out tasting weird? Well, same here. Here is my story…
I had been watching all those perfect cookie videos online, golden brown, crispy, and looking absolutely delicious. I mean, I haven’t tasted any, but they sure looked amazing.‎ I thought to myself, “Cookies are easy to make. I’ve done it before” Although, that was a while ago. So, I gathered my three simple ingredients: flour, butter, and sugar. ‎Of course, I wore my apron and got started with full confidence.

One step changed everything
Everything seemed fine until I realized I had missed the first step. But instead of starting over, I said to myself, “Let me just continue and see how it turns out.” I tasted the dough, and it was good! So, I kept mixing until I got the texture I wanted, used a cookie cutter for cute shapes, and placed them on the oven tray without parchment paper (we didn’t have any). With a big smile, I transferred them into the oven, already imagining the outcome and compliments I’d get from my hard work. I kept peeking through the oven glass, feeling hopeful. As soon as the timer went off, I opened the oven.Cookies gone all wrong

What I expected versus what I got
Boom! they looked great but didn’t taste exactly as expected. I handed them out to my family for tasting. A few said, “It’s fine,” but I knew they were just being nice as usual. Then came the real critic of the house, the food judge. He took a bite and said, “This doesn’t taste like cookies. It has a weird taste.” That was when I knew I had messed up. Lol

I regretted not starting over when I first realized the mistake. But curiosity got the best of me. I really wanted to see what would happen. I’m always enthusiastic to learn and explore recipes.

When it comes to baking…
I’ve realized it isn’t as easy as it looks on Instagram or social media in general. Still, I laughed a lot and even tasted the cookies over and over again. Honestly, they didn’t look bad, and they were sweet. But just didn’t meet my expectations. I ended up shouting “My Cookies Failed Me.”  My own experimental snacks. You can laugh at me too!

The next day, I followed the proper recipe and method, and it turned out much better. I’ve learned that not every recipe will be perfect, and that’s okay. What matters is the experience, the laughter, the suggestions (you should have done this or that comments) and the stories you get to share like I’ve just done. This won’t stop me from experimenting in the future, maybe just not too much. I will still tell you about a recipe I tried on one faithful day like that.

So, for now, stay curious! Winks.

Experience might not be the best teacher, but it’s definitely a great one. Looking forward to more of your recipe stories!
