Sliced Bread Shawarma Recipe

Ingredients

  • Sliced bread (As many slices as you need)
  • Chicken breast, (Marinated and pan-cooked)
  • Sausage (Half sizes)
  • Shredded carrots
  • Shredded cabbage
  • Shawarma cream (your usual mix)

Method

  1. Mix the shredded carrots and cabbage with your shawarma cream, along with the chicken, just like you would for a regular shawarma filling.
  2. Slice the sausage in half lengthwise so it fits neatly on the bread.
  3. Lay out a slice of bread and add a portion of the chicken and vegetable mix, then add the sliced sausage on top.
  4. Top with a second slice of bread, pressing down gently to hold everything together.
  5. Using the same flat pan you used to heat your shawarma filling, toast the bread over medium heat, no oil or butter needed, pressing down gently so the filling warms through.
  6. Turn the sandwich over and toast the other side the same way.
  7. Take it out of the pan and enjoy while hot.

Notes

Since no oil is used, keep a close eye on the heat, mine got dark on the sides before I realized it, right on the edge of burning. Watch both sides closely as you flip, not just the first one. Toasting without oil browns faster than you'd expect
