Zobo is a popular homemade drink known for⁷ its unique colour and taste. It’s made from Roselle/Hibiscus plant. Zobo leaf contains fibre, vitamin A, C and others which makes it healthy for human consumption. It is believed to serve as a good alternative to soda.

Ingredients

  • 3cups of dried zobo leaves
  • Ginger
  • Flavours/ Sweeteners (pineapple, orange, strawberry or apple)
  • Cloves( popularly known as zobo seed)

How To Make Zobo

  • Handpick every unwanted substance from the zobo leaves, wash and put in a cooking pot. Add a moderate amount of water, add cloves (zobo seed) and ginger (you can blend or cut ginger into pieces) and allow to cook for 25minutes.

  • After cooking for 25mins, remove from heat and allow to cool
  • Filter into a bowl to remove the leaves. Then add any flavour of your choice (I used pineapple flavour for this recipe). Remember that the flavour already has sugar so just add it to your taste (if you don’t want it too sugary then add a little flavour)

  • Dilute with water if too thick and refrigerate immediately to avoid fermentation.

  • Finally, served chilled with or without a snack.
